Both chambers insisted on their own versions of the spending plan, setting the stage for a conference committee that is likely to get to work later this week.

The House and Senate floors were both active with debate of weighty measures like Governor Kemp’s “Safe Schools Act” ( HB 147) and legislation amending Georgia’s certificate of need law ( SB 99) to allow an additional exemption for rural acute care hospitals. With a week remaining before Crossover Day, activity hit a fever pitch in the Capitol on Monday.
